Michael Dawson has a Bachelor of Science, Natural Resources and Recreation Management, from the University of Arizona (1978). He has extensive experience in the environmental, community involvement, and transportation fields. His background encompasses 30 years in the federal, state, county governments, and private consulting sectors; preparing or directing land use plans, corridor studies, feasibility studies, and project Environmental Assessments. He is experienced in working with multiple jurisdictions and interest groups to help solve complicated local and regional issues in projects. Currently, Michael is a Senior Environmental Planner, EcoPlan Associates, Inc. in Tucson, Arizona. He has held similar positions with Entranco, DMJM Harris, and AECOM. In the public sector he has served as Manager of Community and Government Relations for Maricopa County Department of Transportation, Environmental Planner for Arizona Department of Transportation, and a Recreation Technician for the Bureau of Land Management.

Michael has been active in AZAEP since shortly after its formation in 2005. Prior to his current role as President, he has served as the Vice President (2012 -2014), and At-Large Board member (2006-2012). He has been the lead in the Student Mentoring role and contributed significantly to the successful hosting of the NAEP 34th Annual Conference is Scottsdale, Arizona in 2009. He has been a NAEP member since 2006. As a Chapter Representative to NAEP he has arranged to host the two quarterly Board Meetings in Arizona and looks forward to continued involvement to bring the benefits of NAEP to the chapter members.
